Sample some swedish white bread in the Resistance Museum
In late January 1945, as the north of the Netherlands faced its notorious winter of starvation, the Red Cross shipped large quantities of grain to the Netherlands from Sweden. Bakers rallied together and in early March were able to begin distribution of the legendary Swedish white bread. Everyone over the age of four was entitled to half a loaf and a small pack of Swedish margarine. Anyone who ate it at the time can still remember this unforgettable delicacy. Come and try it and decide for yourself !
Every hour, the museum will offer free guided tours of the permanent exhibition on war and resistance in the Netherlands, 1940-1945. It is also possible to visit the new exhibition Elke dag een draadje... Borduren in gevangenschap 1940-1945 (A thread a day… Embroidery in captivity 1940-1945).
